My Norwegian maple has a crack in the trunk that is measured 5 inches deep nadn 18 inches long . Above the crack is a V where 2 branches connect and there is an area where water has accumulated. There is no main trunk and six branches split off around the 5 foot height should I consider this a hazard since the tree is 30 yrs old and about 35 feet tall . My house and neighbors are 10 feed from the end of the tree branch

Susan - I would definitely be concerned! A professional (licensed) arborist can perform tests to see what condition the trunk and each branch is in. Good luck!
