The Great Corn Adventure

Some people say you can almost hear corn grown, but you can't really. During hot summer nights, corn can grow 3-4 inches per night.

This is because the corn plant closes its stomata, the opening on the leaves, preventing water loss. The plant continues to take up water through its roots and then mumps water to the cells resulting in an increase in cell size and plant height.
