Selling Acorns, Hickories, and Walnuts

Is there a program in Illinois that purchases acorns, hickory nuts and pecan nuts for reforestation? Where can we find the equipment needed to perform this task efficiently? Are there prices available for these nuts (per pound, bag, or otherwise?)

Lee,

Thank you for your question. The Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources does purchase tree seed for their nurseries. Please contact Dave Horvath at:

Mason State Nursery 17855 N. Co. Rd. 2400 E. Topeka, IL 61567 309/535-2185

Regarding tree seed collection devices, check out this website http://www.baganut.com/

Prices for individual species varies year to year, you may want to try and contact several people for current seed prices from the following website http://www.directseeding.org/
