Hi Jay, I live in northern Idaho, and have 20 acres of forest land, all conifers. I am interested in planting a long-term investment crop that would require relatively little maintenance, and am thinking about blk. walnut or blk. cherry. I only have about an acre or two of really good, moist, northern-exposure planting site, and most of that is heavily thinned pockets in a middle-aged conifer stand. What is the feasability of a plantation? Do you think distance from potential buyers (in the distant future) is a problem? Would i be able to grow enough trees to make it economically productive and interesting to buyers? Thanks for any advice. (also, is walnut or cherry better?) Nathan
