Hi! I have 18 arborvitae that are 5 1/2 years old and approximately 8' tall. The inner brances are turning brown, which I understand is natural. However, there are 3 that are beside one another (they are in a triangle as I staggered them front, back, etc) and the outer brances are turning a pea green first then brown and falling off at the bottom. One tree literally has part of the bottom gone, about 1/4 of the tree, while the top looks fine. Very concerned...I use these for privacy border and they have been beautiful until now. There are 2 sets of 8 each on either side of the property and the other set of 8 looks great, except for the inner branches turning brown, which I won't worry about. Help! Thank you! Debbie Clark

Greetings Debbie,

The best and only way to truly help you is for you to contact your local Purdue Extension office and have someone come out for an on-site evaluation of your tree. You may also need to contact a local certified arborist to assist you as diagnosing tree health concerns is extremely difficult to do via this forum - too many variables and I would need to see the tree in person.

Best of luck and call your local Purdue Extension office.
