What are the major plant associations in west central Illinois?

Greetings Katie,

The native vegetation to that area is forest and prairie. Primary forest cover types include oak-hickory, elm-ash-cottonwood floodplain forests, and dry sand forests. For a more detailed list of west central Illinois plant species, please contact your local IDNR District Heritage Biologist:
