I have a Walnut Tree that stands 40 feet straight up until it branches off. 55 to 60 inches in circumference and in excellent condition.. How much would I get for the timber????

Greetings Rayetta,

I receive this exact question quite often and unfortunately I almost always provide the same answer: it depends.

Your walnut tree could be worth more as firewood, or it could be worth anywhere from $100 to several thousands of dollars. Only an on-site evaluation and appraisal by a professional forester or a licensed timber buyer can truly answer this question for you.

Therefore, you should contact your local Michigan DNR office for a list of professional consulting foresters who are active in your part of the state.

Best of luck!
