Greetings Sandra:

Well, it could be weather related, moisture related, insect & disease related, or it could be nothing at all.

My suggestion is to simply allow the tree to progress through spring bud-break and leaf elongation before jumping to any conclusions. If your tree still has an unusual appearance by the end of the month, then please contact a local certified arborist or horticulturist to assist you.
