Frost & Pin Oak Leaves (MI)

We had a heavy frost in late April in western Michigan. My Pin Oak tree was just getting its leaves and the next day I could see that all the leaves were frosted and dead. Will my tree recover? Can I do anything to help?

Greetings Tami:

Your tree should recover just fine, assuming the tree was healthy and vigorous prior to the frost. Here in the Midwest, frost events are fairly common and the trees have a way of adapting and overcoming. The tree will more than likely put out a second flush of foliage -- if it hasn’t done so already.
