How can the Garlon 3 or Pathway/Tordon be used on Bois D'arc trees that are not cut down? Their thorns are very painful and brush is hard to get rid of once it is cut. Their trunk will also eat up a chain saw blade. So, I'd like some preparation that can be put or sprayed on these trees to kill them. I think once they are dead, it will be easier to get rid of them.

Greetings Debra:

You have four options depending on the size of the trees in question: (1) cut stump treatment, (2) girdle or frill, (3) basal application, or (4) foliar application.

Seeing that this particular species is not listed on the majority of the more familiar woody herbicide specimen labels AND that this request is coming from outside Illinois, I must direct you to your state's forestry agency.
