I have a small Blue Spruce that is turning green. Do you have any suggestions as to what I might do to keep the color of the tree its original color Blue.

Response from Jim Schmidt, U of I horticulturalist:

Tom - your question about the spruce was forwarded to me. Unfortunately the title 'blue spruce' is misleading, since most of them are not blue. As the trees age, they tend to become more green, and this is normal. There are selections of blue spruce that are chosen for their blue color, and these are noted as cultivars. Unless something else is going on, I'm assuming that's the reason.

Hope this helps...Jim
