Our neighbor knocked down the back part of his property that provided privacy for our home. The property had many pines that were dying due to pine beetles. We want to restore our privacy by planting fast growing trees. We are thinking about Thuja Green Giant but we are concerned because of the pine beetle infestation in the area. We also have clay soil that doesn't drain well. Thank you

Greetings Lewan:

I don't think you need to worry about the southern pine beetle seeing that Thuja Green Giant is not in the Genus "Pinus".

Based on what I've read, Thuja Green Giant is adapted to a wide range of soil types, including heavier textured soils (i.e., clay).
