I have many black Walnut trees on my property some very large 48 inches around and bigger. Im willing to let them be harvested but i now nothing about them but i do know that they are worth some good money. I just sold one 35 inches around 32 foot long clear and strait. 150 dollers i got robbed im certin of it. How do i find someone i can trust to give me a fair price for my logs. Or should i harvest them my self saw them into lumber then sell the lumber?

Greetings James:

I would encourage you to contact a professional consulting forester to assist you in determining the fair market value of your timber. A professional consulting forester is an unbiased, third-party professional who works for you - the landowner.

To find a local professional consulting forester, please contact your nearest WI DNR forestry office.

Best of luck!
