Spruce Tree Decline (IL)

I have two spruce trees in my front yard. Not sure of the specific type. The needles are browning and dropping from the tip of the branch in. Eventually the whole branch has lost it's needles. This is occuring from the bottom of the tree up. No recent changes in grade or site. What could be the problem.

Greetings Lee Ann:

Unfortunately, tree health concerns are quite difficult to diagnose via this forum. One option you have is to take a sample to Morton Arboretum's plant clinic for diagnosis:

http://www.mortonarb.org/main.taf?p=3,5

Your other options include contacting a certified arborist or submitting digital photos to the following Website:

Best of luck!
