We are thinking about planting 10 norway spruce...is this a good tree for Illinois?? I have 25 Austrian Pines and after spraying for over 6 years now they are starting to die ...They are 20 years old and have needle blight and needle wilt...also can we plant norway about 5 feet from where the old stump was removed??????

Yes, you should be fine as Norway spruce is generally considered resistant to pine wilt and Dothistroma needle blight.
