Is there another name for the Alaskan Pine Tree? The tree is long and spindly, reminds one of a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. I can't find any references to it, except I have seen them in the mountains of Utah

Greetings Charles:

I am unfamiliar with the common name "Alaskan Pine". In fact, this term may not even be related to pine, but maybe in reference to hemlock, cedar, fir, spruce, Douglas-fir, etc.

Via a 2-minute Web search, I just noticed that western hemlock is infrequently referred to as "Alaska pine"; however, western hemlock is not native to Utah nor is it in fact a true "pine".
