Milled Black Walnut Prices (WI)

[Post a Follow Up] [Post to this category]

I am having two black walnut trees cut down and milled. Each tree is approximately 30 inches in diameter. I am wondering where I can go to find buyers for this wood, as well as what my asking price should be. Thank you!

Greetings Tony:

Believe it or not, I’m not as tuned into lumber prices as I am regarding timber/stumpage prices. However, lumber and timber prices are, of course, very closely related.

You may wish to try the following Website to “gauge” lumber prices. Please pay special attention to kiln-dried vs. green prices, thickness (e.g., 4/4, 6/4, 8/4, etc.), grade, retail vs. wholesale, etc. There are of course numerous other Websites out there that publish lumber prices.

Check with your local WI-DNR district forester for local market outlets/buyers.

Best of luck!
