Tree Removal and Replanting (TX)

We had our 50ft Redoak removed yesterday. We are planning to replant a new tree, different type, in the same place. The stump was ground down about 6 inches. What can I do over the next few months to prepare the hole? Make it a little Compost area? Buy that stump removal stuff from hoome depot? Go nuts with an axe? Any tips would be great. Thanks, Chad
