My daughter recently purchased a home that ha a very large soft maple tree. The previus owner build a two foot box around the tree an filled with dirt. I am in process of removing the dirt, but the tree seems to have very small fibrous roots in the part that was in the ground. Will the removal of thosesmall roots injure the tree? Thank you for your help

Greetings Glenn:

If the tree in question is as large as you make it out to be, then it is very unlikely that the roots you found in the planter box are soft maple roots.
