i had a 30 inch diameter black walnut tree cut down last fall into 2-4 ft lengths. I did not know the value of black walnut trees (In fact I did not even know it was black walnut until recently.) Is there a market for the logs that are cut smaller than the lengths needed for veneer? How do I advertise if there is a market? The logs themselves have no defect or branches. thanks for your answer.

Greetings Cornelius:

Granted, the "logs" would have been more valuable and usable as a forest product had they been cut to a more traditional length. However, there may be some local woodworkers who could utilize these smaller log lengths.

You can place an add in your local paper; contact a local woodworkers shop; or create a post in a wood workers forum such as: www.woodweb.com or www.woodfinder.com

Best of luck!
