Colorado Blue Spruce

We have 6 Colorado Blue Spruces ranging in height from 10-15 ft high. Suddenly the inner needles on the branches have turned yellow and it looks like they are all dying. In addition there are a few 6 ft pines planted near them that also look like some of their needles are turning yellow. Back in July REA hired some company to spray vegetation and they did spray a tree that was about 40 ft away from the first blue spruce. Could some overspray be causing this damage or are we about to lose our beautiful trees?

Greetings Carol:

What you are witnessing could be one of multiple things: needle senescence, biological (insect or pathogen), or environmental (too much water, too little water, heat stress, ozone, fertility issues, pesticides, etc.).

Because tree health issues are so difficult to diagnose via Web venues, I will have to recommend that you contact a local certified arborist for an on-site evaluation and assessment of the trees in question.

Best of luck!
