Ponderosa Pine Branch Loss (AZ)

We have recently purchased property in northern Az. We noticed that the lower branches of all the ponderosa pines branches are dead. Is this a normal condition or do we need to address this as an issue? Tops look fine, but all are tall and slim (not broad crowns). Average height is 30-40ft tall.

Greetings Amy:

Without additional information and without the ability to physically see and assess these trees, it is extremely difficult to determine whether or not your trees are exhibiting signs of stress, insects, or pathogens. That said, your best bet is to contact a natural resources specialist within your home state:

Best of luck!
