Control of Wild Grape Vines on Crop Trees (IL)

I am having trouble with grape vines and other vines on our trees. A local timber buyer cut 12 or 15 black walnut trees and said we were going to have trouble with our other timber and the vines. I would like to know the process to kill these back and save the small trees. ie the time to cut them and what brush killer to use that won't hurt the trees. Thanks

Greetings Butch:

Please refer to the following publications from The Ohio State University Extension:

http://ohioline.osu.edu/for-fact/pdf/0045.pdf

http://ohioline.osu.edu/for-fact/pdf/0051.pdf

These two publications should answer all of your questions!

Best of luck!
