My property line is made up of many samller size Black Walnut trees, really not much value there, but I do have a stand of trees that contains one or two very nice specimens however. In the Kane/Dekalb county area is there anybody that you can recomend that can look at waht I have and advise what direction to go? I want to clear the area and like most people have no clue if there is anything of value there.

Greetings David:

The most efficient way to value a stand of timber, or even several black walnut trees, for potential sale and marketing is to contact a professional forester.

Therefore, your best bet is to contact a local professional consulting forester:

Alternatively, you may contact your local IL Dept. of Natural Resources district forester; however, they are usually backlogged with forestry requests upwards to six months--two years.

Best of luck!
