Here are three options I always recommend with regard to marketing merchantable yard trees:
Option 1: Contact a local portable/custom sawmill owner to determine if the tree has merchantable and dimensional qualities suitable for felling and milling (contact your local state forestry agency for a list of custom sawmill operators).
Option 2: Contact a local woodworker group/association to determine if the tree has merchantable and dimensional qualities suitable for felling and milling (contact your local state forestry agency for a list of local woodworkers or simply search the Internet).
Option 3: Contact a local state forester or consulting forester to determine if this particular tree has any merchantable value (search the Internet for your local state forestry agency).
