Selling Black Walnut Lumber (MI)

We have approximately 600 board feet of Black Walnut that is 1 1/4 thick and various lengths of 12, 14 & 16 feet long. The trees were over 80 years old when they were cut down in 2006. We had them cut, milled and have stored them inside at a constant temp of 72 degrees since then.

What would be our best means to sell this wood?

Greetings Karla:

Here are my suggestions and in no particular order:

1) Contact your local state forestry agency or the Michigan Forest Association and to see if they have a newsletter where you can place an advertisement for this lumber or if they know of local woodworkers in your area who may be looking for quality hardwood lumber.

2) Contact your state Tree Farm committee and see if you can place an advertisement in their newsletter

3) Similar to items 1 & 2, place an advertisement in your local newspaper, woodworker shops, and Web sites such as www.woodweb.com and www.woodfinder.com

This will take a little work on your end, but I promise it will be worth the effort!
