I Have a 100+ year old oat tree in the woods near my ski house in the Catskills Area. The tree has a V that has a split in it at the base. Locals have told me the tree needs to come down. Does it have an commercial value and must it be taken down and used for fire wood. It has two long and straight and wide trunks.

Please advise.

Thank you,

Lou

Greetings Louis:

Please contact your state forestry agency as you require on-site technical forestry assistance, not an observers Web-based opinion.

Best of luck!
