Hello,

I'm trying to find the best time to prune. In this specific case, now that the leaves have fallen, I have found two branches rubbing where they have both been damaged. I would like to remove one now but unsure if It's an okay time. Secondly, should I use a tree paint to help protect the damage on the remaining branch.

Thank you.

Hi Richard:

Same rules apply for crabapple -- prune during the dormant season and DO NOT use tree paint.
