Bradford Pears Aren't growing

Hello,

I planted two Bradford Pear trees two years ago and have seen minimal, if any growth in them. Is it possible I bought dwarf Bradfords? I'm looking for a simiar type tree that will grow 20 feet of so. First, can you explain the slow/no growth and second, what other trees would be an option?

Thanks

Greetings David:

A quick check to quantify your tree's growth rate is to evaluate bud scale scars (located on twigs). The distance between each bud scale scar indicates one year's worth of growth:

Slow growth may indicate inadequate soil moisture; too much moisture; poor tree health; poor growing conditions; poor genetics; poor planting job; poor planting site; or a myriad of other potential biotic/abiotic factors.
