Recently Planted Eastern Redbud Trees (IL)

We have recently planted two young redbud trees (about three weeks ago). One in the back is about 2 feet high, protected by an upper deck, it gets partial sun; it shows signs of being attacked by something - its leaves have holes and some look lacey. The other is about 4 feet high, in sun most of the day, and its leaves are wilting. How can we help these trees?

Greetings Laura:

No need to hit the panic button just yet -- after all, these trees were just planted three weeks ago during periods of high temperature and low precipitation.

The only thing you should be doing is ensuring these two trees receive adequate moisture -- this means you will need to water these trees (not too much, but not too little). The soil should be moist, not swampy or bone-dry!
