Pruning Young White Pine

what is the rule of thumb for pruning the branches of a white pine? How much should you take off? I have 2 and they're 5 yrs old, and never been pruned. They're in a garden where the branches are starting to block the walk-ways.

Thanks, Karen

General Rules of Thumb:

1) Do not remove more than 30% of the live crown during a single growing season.

2) Maintain 50-67% of the total tree height in live branches.
