I know there are many variables in what determines how fast a tree grows. Does a tree grow year round, or just in the spring?

Hi Jim:

The vast majority of tree growth occurs between bud break, or leaf-on (spring) and dormancy, or leaf-off (fall).

However, tree roots will continue to grow, albeit very slowly, during the winter months if water is available and the ground is not frozen.
