I am considering purchasing a Baby Blue spruce. It will be planted in a sunny location. Can you tell me how tall and wide I can expect the tree at maturity. How far should i plant the tree from the corner of the house. Thanks

Hi Tom:

First of all, is there any way to discourage you from planting blue spruce? Just to let you know, over 66% of the forest health emails/phone calls I receive involve blue spruce! This tree is way over planted and it is quite simply a problem tree.

Expected Height: 15-30' Width: 15-20'

I would plant this particular tree species at least 20-25' away from your house as it is my experience that most homeowners and landscapers tend to plant trees way too close to structures. Keep some distance!

As an alternative to blue spruce, please refer to the tree selection guide by The Morton Arboretum
