Blue Spruce Top Dieback (IL)

What disease or insect kills the very tip top of blue spruce few to several feet from the tip down? The rest of the tree seems to be ok, for awhile anyway.

I hope you can answer this and give me some direction to stop this.

As you can tell from the sheer number of blue spruce questions asked via this forum, the best and only advice I can provide to homeowners and landowners is (1) contact a certified arborist for an onsite inspection and diagnosis, and/or (2) submit a plant sample to the U of I Plant Clinic here on the Urbana campus for culture and analysis.
