Dying Sugar Maple Trees (IL)

I had three hard maple trees --one five years old and the other two about three years old. I watered them faithfully during the drought last year and was so happy they looked so good this spring. They completely leafed except the one five year old maple never lost it's pods. Anyway, they were doing fine till the floods. Now they are just up and dying. Can too much water kill them? I know one of them had antler skins on it last year so maybe the others were getting rubbed also. But they looked so good up until the last week when they all died. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Hi Becky: Yes, too much water and not enough water can lead to tree mortality. I would encourage you to wait patiently and observe these trees for signs of recovery post flood event.
