Removal Cost vs Value of Yard Trees

A company came out and removed 4 large oak trees from our backyard that seemed to be dying, i.e., no leaves anywhere. They left the stumps, but never called me to give me a removal quote. We went on vacation and the trees were gone (removed) when we got back. What is the value of the trees vs removal costs?
