Removing Yard Trees for New Development

My mother in law has 11 black walnut trees on her property in Darien, Il. They range in diameter from almost 7" to almost 18" with an average of about 10". The trees are between 20 and 40 feet tall with bottom branches from 10 to 20 feet up. The property is about to be sold, house torn down and developed. Is there any chance that these trees could be marketed?

Hi Pat:

It is highly unlikely these walnut trees are marketable due to the simple fact that they are too small (i.e., an average diameter of 10"). However, you can always try contacting a custom sawmill operator: http://www.illinoisurbanwood.org/documents/ILCustomSawmillsDirectory2011.pdf
