I have a small piece of land I cleared and would like to plant it to black walnut for my grandkids to harvert in thirty-fourth years.

However, it is covered with bamboo and as you know it keeps returning: I have plowed it, cut it, raked it, and it keeps returning.

Do you have any suggestions as to how to rid myself of this weed and if i keep it cut can i grow black walnut on land with it? Thank you!

Sounds like you're going to need to utilize a systemic herbicide to prevent the bamboo from resprouting and spreading via rhizomes. Farm-strength glyphosate (41% amine salt) will do the trick.

1) Mow the bamboo with a bush hog or mower, 2) Allow bamboo shoots to regrow until leaves expand, 3) Spray fresh shoots and newly expanded leaves with a 5% glyphosate solution mixed with water and a non-ionic surfactant, and 4) Respray if necessary
