How to Market my Black Walnut Trees (IL)

I would like to get more info on Black Walnut Tree's. I was told to get a county arborist to survey my property and mark the Black Walnut tree's before contacting any sawmills. Is this the correct way to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Leslie:

Point of clarification: Are these "yard" trees or "forest" trees?

You really need to speak with a professional consulting forester, not an arborist if these are forest trees.

We have 14 acres of land, so I guess they would be forest trees????

Hi Leslie:

I would definitely suggest you contact and work with a professional consulting forester to assist you in the marking, marketing, and sale of any timber on your property! You'll make more money and you'll enjoy more timber sales of your ownership tenure!
