Unknown Tree in California

I have a tree with short thorns (about 1/3 inch long), oval dark green leaves with smooth edges. It has white flowers with five thin petals, and is already putting out a berry or fruit, the young fruits are green but some are turning red, about 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. Any clue?

Sorry Patricia, but I'm going to ask that you send multiple pictures, or bring in a leaf / twig / fruit sample to your local state Extension office in California for ID purposes:

UC Cooperative Extension: http://ucanr.edu

Best of luck!
