Treating Honeylocust Stumps

[Post a Follow Up] [Post to this category]

Our 4-year-old honey locust was cut down this spring because it had suffered damage from an early snow storm a couple of years ago. I won't go into the details, but a specialist told us it would not survive. There is a stump of about 2' remaining. Now, 4 months later, the stump has numerous sprouts growing around (but near) the stump. I would like to remove the stump altogether WITHOUT having sprouts pop up all over the back yard, as other people have indicated often happens. Thanks in advance for your help!
