Pruning a White Pine (PA)

I want to prune our white pine because last winter we feared it would fall due to high winds and snow. it is about 50 feet. some companies said not to cut the top because it would kill the tree or make the lower branches grow longer. Only one company said we should top it off by 15 feet. What do you recommend?

Hi Joleen:

I'm not an arborist nor am I an urban forester, so I'll leave these kinds of questions to the tree care experts.

Try contacting an Extension forester with Penn State University:

Best of luck!
