Red Pine Mauled (MI)

My neighbor trimmed my red pine last summer. The tree is approximately 40 feet in height and he cut a wedge out 6 feet in height and half the side of the tree. He also gouge the bark with his chain saw. Although he did trim over a foot into my yard that is another matter. Will this chain sawed hack job injure my tree. although the aesthetic value is lost I do not want to cut the tree down. Thank you, Judi
