Leyland Cypress or Arbovitae?

My son wants to plant a windbreak and privacy screen on his property in St. Jacob, Il. The property has no trees (was a corn and hay field), and is quite windy. Would you suggest Leyland cypress, arborvitae or some other evergreen to be the most successful under these conditions? TX

Hi Albert: I would strongly encourage you to speak w/ your local IL Dept. of Natural Resources district forester regarding windbreak tree selection in Madison County, IL.
