Will it harm a Pine tree if I drive a large nail or screw into a large healthy Pine Tree?

Will it harm a healthy tree? No, it won't harm a healthy tree. However, I can't think of any valid reason to drive a large nail or screw into a tree to begin with.

i bought a house with a 60-70 ft Aleppo pine 15 feet from my back door...tried everything to hide roots nothing works. I would like to put 3-4 nails into it so i can form a stong base for a joist hanger.

I'm not saying that you can't...BUT I personally wouldn't if it were my tree. Why not install a simple wooden frame around the base of the tree using screws as a base for a joist hanger.
