Purchasing Pole Saws and Pruners for Home Use

Hi, what brand or weight of pole cutter and pole clippers do you recommend for home use? Several people will use the tools from retirees in their 70's to men in their 40's. We are a townhouse association with understory trees which we want to prune ourselves. I had a class in use pole tools, but need tips on better tools, so we don't waste our money.
