Hi, I bought a new house that has a black walnut tree in the yard and in fall I have a lot of walnuts strewn all over my yard. What is the correct way to dispose of them? Throwing them away seems like such a waste. Is there a place where I can sell/donate them near the Urbana-Champaign area?

Hi Radha: Place the walnut husks in five gallon buckets and ask the Busey Woods Nature Center (Urbana Park District) to see if they would be willing to utilize them or throw them in the woods for the squirrels to bury. Nobody is going to pay you for a couple hundred black walnut fruit.
