Bartlett Pear Not Producing

Wife and I just bought a property that has 5 Bartlett Pear trees on the property. However, my question is what we might be able to do to help these trees produce fruit. They bloomed all over in early spring, but no fruit. What's up with that? I will be taking a soil sample to our local Cooperative Extension office this next week. We are hoping to add some hardwood mulch around the base of each to possibly increase the richness of the soil. Any other solutions come to mind?

Hi Thomas:

Pruning is more than likely going to be the answer to your lack of pear production. I would encourage you to speak w/ a fruit tree specialist or horticulturist at your local Cooperative Extension office in Arkansas.
