I am doing research and writing about Oakland, Il. History and ran across where in 1876 they officially designated our city park as Centennial Park. To celebrate the day they went to the woods and gathered trees to plant. One tree mentioned was Coffee Nut Tree. I can't seem to find a true identity of such a tree. Could it have been a name at the time which is different today? Can you help me? Thanks...........Bob

Hi Bob:

The answer you are looking for is Kentucky coffeetree (Gymnocladus dioicus).
