I had an ash tree was was cut down due to infestation by the ash borer beetle. New branches have sprouted from the base of the truck. Should I allow the tree to regrow or should I cut down the new growth to avoid possible reinfestation?

If this were happening in my yard, I would simply grind out the ash stump and sprouts, and plant a suitable native tree or shrub adjacent to the said stump.
